Clearing up the mess.

Firstly, I don’t hate Dead Space. I just don’t think it’s altogether a very good game when there are plenty of other shooters in the market (some equally as bad, some not so much). Now that I’ve ‘/ranted’ I can begin clearing up the mess that is the current state of affairs in the RPG world.

As far as the RPG world goes, we’re nearing completion, I haven’t had the time to attend the RPG world this week, so I’ve been on a hiatus (also due to the lag last time, and the hiatus promise I made), but by the end of this week, or start of next week, I can (try to) promise you that the city of Ah Piji (name pending), the final and the only oriental city so far that will be built, as the final parting gift before the release of RPG world. Oh, and some plugin installments (e.g PhatLoots, DungeonRewards) that need to be installed.

Then that’s about it, and RPG world will be delivering to you shortly.

——

Might as well speak about the updates while I’m here. RPG world will be released as v1.0. For every crazy significant update that completely changes it, an entire integer will be added to the version, sending it to v2.0. For every major but not significant update, a tenth will be added onto the version, thus making it v2.1 (if we were at v2.0 before, or else it would be v1.1), and every small update adds a hundredth to the version, thus making it either v2.11 or v1.11 respectively.

tc;du (too confusing, didn’t understand): Version starts at 1.0, significant updates add 1.0, major updates add 0.1, minor updates add 0.01 to the version.

A contemplation.

The game industry is a lot like the movie industry nowadays. Blockbuster hits in the movie industry make a lot, but they’re mostly rubbish movies with overused cliche plots that are incredibly predictable. Likewise, lots of modern games, especially shooters like Call of Duty and Dead Space, to name a few, are action-packed, adrenaline-pumping, rubbishly overused game mechanics. Sure, they’re fun, but they’re essentially the same game mechanic repackaged under a different cover.

Not many games hit the incredibly innovative fray. But a few make it out of the mold. The market is dominated by blockbuster games: Dead Space 2, Red Dead Redemption (not by any means bad), Modern Warfare 2, but there are times when a game truly excels, when a game becomes a cult classic.

Cult classics like Final Fantasy 7 (Cloud Strife springs to mind), LoZ: Ocarina of Time, and even Okamiden. And Minecraft. Minecraft is a cult classic, its userbase stretches worldwide, and it’s a game so deep, yet so inexplainable. And that’s why I play Minecraft, no matter what people say: the graphics are bad, how do you hit blocks, why is it so blocky, blah dee blah, Minecraft truly excels in gameplay. But not graphics.

But it’s a cult classic like no other.

BruCraft RPG is looking for a co-writer!

You heard me right. We need someone who can write well, goes on the RPG world regularly, knows all the going-ons and can remain consistent. And they need to be able to actually make the reader want to read the blog, so don’t type all H@XX0R LIK3 MMK@Y5?

If you do want to apply, you can do so here by writing in the comments of this post, posting on the official FB page or somehow contacting me.

DevStatus: April 3rd

So here we are again. This time, DevStatus hits a low note. A very sad macabre one, like a D flat. On a pentatonic scale. That doesn’t make sense, so try not to comprehend it with my impromptu musical technical knowledge.

The point is that now with Minecraft Beta 1.4 (at least the April Fools version of it) out, there are wolves. This enhances RPG gameplay a lot, need I say more. And yet with the new update brings about the stupid thing that happens every time. You have to update plugins, plugins become outdated, some become deprecated, the cycle goes on. The Bukkit Cycle of Life.

Here’s a lowdown of what’s hip and happening in the world:

  • Wolves. Weee! I have a pack of 8!
  • The update to Beta 1.4, and CraftBukkit 600+ have made Citizens obsolete, so now half of them got lost in the webs of the database, and will need to be replaced, because they are corrupt.
  • 1 more town! Atlantis or Oriental?

That’s all from me for now, and from DevStatus.

Release date.

Okay, might as well speak about it, and sorry for the lack of updates yesterday, I wasn’t able to use a computer, now then. The release date has not been fixed, so it’s pretty flexible, though we’ve got a vague idea of when.

Next week. That’s as vague as it gets. But then with all these problems popping up, it might be pushed a little back yet again. To next week and 2 days. Or 2 weeks in time.

We don’t know, nor can we say when it’ll be released, but here’s a word to sum it up. Soon.

And now, I take my leave.

LORE OF THE DAY: Molten Mountain

In bygone times, the Ayelids were vagabonds. They never stayed in one place, instead moving around, never settling down. They came across a mountain at one time, and decided to set up a short-lived base camp here, but it was treacherous, with above-ground lava leaking from its very core. And so they decided. They would make it into a treacherous temple, like their ancestors had done in the past, one other Ayelid Temple for yet more naive adventurers to seal their fate.

Carefully harvesting the lava, and with their best craftsmen shaping the mountain into something more aesthetic, they worked day to night, months on end. And at once, it was complete. Molten Mountain, as it had been dubbed, had been made. And so the Ayelids set off on another journey, to somewhere elsewhere where perhaps…another obstacle would be made.

DevStatus: April 1st

So here we are again - DevStatus, on April Fools. April Fools btw, so don’t believe this DevStatus (PS: please do).

Now then, on with productive stuff:

  • 5 Ayelid Temples done, booyah!
  • Molten Mountain redone!
  • Lots of secret alcoves featuring fancy-pancy stuff ranging from hard-to-reach-cliff-hanging chests filled with sweet loot, to underground alcoves where witches sell medicine. And i’m serious.
  • 4 Towns! And 1 GOLDEN BED INN!

This all the more stresses the fact that…we’re nearing completion! By next week, RPG world will be ready for release, or so methinks.

MOLTEN MOUNTAIN REDONE!

So as it turned out no one wanted to volunteer for the Molten Mountain redux except KingSnail2 and GreenSlime (albeit him being busy), so for the most part it was me and KingSnail2. Well, KingSnail2 and me did the draining, and then he left somewhere, leaving me to design the entire exterior and interior. Which I did after taking a 6(?)-hour break.

Here is the pics.

BEFORE:

Looking back at Molten Mountain before, it looked like what GreenSlime said, rubbish. Utter complete grieftastic rubbish. And then it became this.

AFTER (DAY):

Look at the top, you can see it curves inwards, especially in the night version. And the lava looks so much more streamlined, and non-messy. How cool is that. HOW COOL IS THAT?!?

 AFTER (NIGHT):

Night looks awesome.

And then there’s the close-up, now in super-cooler definition.

BEFORE:

AFTER:

Whoop dee doo.

Onto the picture of the peak sign.

BEFORE:

Peh, so bland.

AFTER:

Utter coolness. Well, this pic maybe not so much.

NOW ONWARDS AND INWARDS. Onto the ayelid temple pic. (which is located inside the mountain btw, and to get in the mountain, you have to get in through the peak.

BEFORE:

As usual, looks ridiculous when you think about it.

AFTER:

‘Nuff said. The lava pools that surround it, mean you have to carefully jump your way to the entrance of the temple. And that’s the easy part.

Renovation complete.

Molten Mountain Redux

So we’ve been getting along quite nicely with Molten Mountain, in the morning, all the lava was drained out, and the cobblestone scaffolding was removed, and now, back in the afternoon, I’ve begun work (solo) on the outer framework, attempting to make it look volcano style, or at least mountainy.

I’m too lazy to post pics right now, but I can say work is being done.

URGENT: Renovation of Molten Mountain

CALLING ALL CURRENT RPG PLAYERS IN THE CLOSED BETA to come to molten mountain immediately. Owners can go there by using ‘/warp [RPG]MMountain’, non-owners may access there through the co-ordinates,

  • X: 244
  • Y: 88
  • Z: 199

Our main objective is to renovate Molten Mountain for ‘aesthetic purposes’ as detailed by GreenSlime, it currently looks like ‘someone’s griefed work’. We want to make it look like an actual volcano with lava bubbling from the top and out down the sides, but keep it in the same position because of the *hinthint* Ayelid Temple.

We will be providing free healing amenities (such as cake and bread, and golden apples especially), as well as /god mode for tackling the lava removal. We’ll give you free building supplies, and even add in some salary for your voluntary-ness. So come on and help out!
